Art Show Registration Forms

Registration Form. Fill this out and send in with your registration fee to reserve the panels you would like. Panels are first come, first serve.
Control Sheet. List each piece of art separately. Feel free to print extra copies if needed.

General Information

CONduit XVIII will be held May 23-25, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
We generally have 650-900 members.

Artists are welcome at CONduit events. However, please note that purchase of art panels
does not include a membership to the convention.
For information on purchasing a convention membership go to the Registration Page

If you wish to hang your own art but not attend the convention, arrangements for that
and for pick up after the show closes will need to be made in advance with the art show director.
These hours will be very limited.

We strongly recommend you not send art that is more than PG-13 rated
as we are in a conservative and family oriented culture.
We will NOT hang art that does not meet those standards.

Awards

Awards will be given in the following categories unless there are not enough participants (minimum 3 participants)
in a particular category to make an award viable:

Color
Monochrome
3-Dimensional
Fiber
Jewelry
People's Choice

Fees and Costs

Art Show Panels are 6' high with 4'x4' pegboard panel area.

  • Panel price is $10.00 each.
  • Half panel price is $6.00 each.
  • 3-d space is $10 each and has two shelves 15"x4',
spaced 2 feet apart at distances of 2 feet and 4 feet from the floor.

  • Combination panel with one shelf set up at the middle or bottom of the panel is $15.00 per unit.
All fees and forms are due by April 30th, 2008.
We have very limited 3-d space at this time, so please reserve early.

Please limit yourself to two panels or panel units unless you have made prior arrangements with the art director.
CONduit's art show is fairly small.
We do take a waiting list for any unsold space at the reservations deadline or any cancellations of reserved spaces.
Reservations are accepted on a first come, first reserved basis.

INSURE YOUR WORK!
If you don't, it is left on the doorstep and it's safety can not be guaranteed!

Once art is received, you will receive a confirmation email that it has arrived.

Please make sure you have sent a hanging schematic with your art.
Otherwise, you accept our arrangement, which may not be as optimized as the one you would have done

Mail control sheets and bid sheets with the art.

Return instructions/costs for mailed in art

Please send return postage and costs for insurance with your art, or with your registration fees.
If you do not send this, and have insufficient sales for us to cover the cost of returning the unsold art,
we will be forced to consider your art a donation to the convention.

*Please send reusable packaging as we will use your own packaging to return your unsold art.
Please be aware that if you send your package to us via priority mail,
even if you specify you want it returned via parcel post,
it will most likely be returned priority because the tape used to mark the box is difficult to
remove and the Post Office requires that all priority markings be removed in order to
reuse the box with a different method of travel.

We can accept mailed in art by FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express (DHL) or USPS.

Unsold art will be returned to you via USPS, unless you have instructed otherwise,
or necessitated by the labels on your box.

Unsold art will be put on return carrier by June 11, 2008.

Hanging Art

Tentative hanging time is Friday May 23, 2008, 8:00AM-10:00AM.

Please let us know if you are going to need different times than these designated for hanging
so we can make those arrangements in advance.

If you are not going to be able to hang your art show items at the designated time,
please let us know so that we can place a notice on your panels to inform art
show patrons that your art will be coming later.

Picking Up Art

Tentative pick up of unsold art is 3:00PM-4:00PM Sunday May 25, 2008.

Please let us know if you are going to need different times than these designated
take down so we can make those arrangements in advance.

Art will need to be checked out with the art show director or designated assistant.
If you are having someone else pick up your art, please make sure you have signed the necessary
release form with your registration and that they have
sufficient identification for the art to be released to them.

Sales

Art Show items are sold by bid.

Direct Sales are also available to members who cannot be at the con on Sunday for regular pick up.

Bids are accepted during Art Show open hours until 12:00 Noon on Sunday, May 25th, 2008
when the show closes to prepare for the auction.
Four written bids will send a piece to auction.

There is one voice auction, currently scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday May 25th, 2008.
Note: these times may change depending on availability of Programming space.

At this time, we do not offer an after auction sale price other than direct sale price.

Art Auction and Charity Auction

CONduit's Art Show welcomes items for Charity auction.
The Charity auction is also on Sunday May 25th and may be held with the Art Auction. (See above)

If you have a particular charity you would like to benefit from that item's sale,
please send that information with the item, as well as the necessary contact
information to get the donation to them.

If you do not designate a charity recipient, CONduit's charity of choice is Reading For the Future Utah,
a non-profit Utah Corporation.

RFFUtah's goal is to get good science fiction and fantasy books into the hands of youth in an effort to get them reading.

To facilitate this, RFFUtah sends boxes of donated new and in-good-condition books to teachers and school libraries all
over the state.

The RFFUtah program actively solicits the donation of the books and works with librarians and teachers in order to get books to
the kids.

Any designated for RFFUtah charity auction funds are used for the postage to make this program possible.

All donations to RFFUtah are fully tax deductible.

For more information about the organization go to RFFUtah.org

Print Shop Information

Artist commission checks will be mailed, generally within two weeks of the end of the convention.
